Fire in the Soul: A Jungian Guide to Discovering the Promise in Our Holy Longing
LECTURE To be human is to be filled with longing. Even beneath the good lives we may have achieved, we still long for safety, health, love, family peace, abundance, and freedom from anxiety. Beneath the busy and often frantic, imagined importance of our lives, we long to know that our lives have purpose, meaning; that our perception of realty is true and that we have value to something greater than ourselves. This lecture will focus on the spirit of individuation in Jungian psychology and how it can become a guide to reawakening and re-imagining the archetypal and mythic dimensions of our spiritual and religious depths. This path can enliven our traditions if we so chose, while it becomes the foundation for becoming responsible for our own spiritual path in a way that is truly transforming and enlightening. Dr. Harris will look into how this process grows from our history and inner conflicts and helps us live in partnership with our Self and the Divine within us. |
SEMINAR AND WORKSHOP
In this life-changing experience, Dr. Harris will continue to lead us into a more profound vision of the spiritual dimensions of the individuation process. In this journey the idea is not just to love yourself, but how to give love to yourself. The idea is not how to be good, but how to live with purpose and meaning. The idea is not just how to heal your suffering and your past, but how to be transformed by it. And, the idea is not just how to make life Holy, it is how to become co-creators of yourself and the world with the Self and the Divine within you.
We will follow a tapestry of mythical images, stories and psychological realities that will guide our search into our religious and spiritual potentials and how they can transform and enrich our lives. This important day will combine a lecture, seminar and small group approach in developing and understanding the material. Please bring a pencil and paper to write down your reflections about topics discussed in both the lecture and the workshop.
